I had a friend over the other night (socially distanced and they've been isolating too) and they were impressed with my hammock setup. I told them that while there's a little know how, it's really not that hard to do. Here's a great video I found that breaks down how to do it really well:

REI has got to be one of my favorite places to shop.
Aside from the amazing sales, I never have a problem finding someone knowledgeable to ask about. I happened to need some more hiking socks but had never tried the Darn Tough ones before. Luckily, the salesman was able to help me figure it out and now I have some new ones! Https://hikematic.com is also a great resource for gear reviews, I refer back to it whenever I'm in the market for a new purchase. Really just a nice way to get out of the house. Will report back on how the socks perform once I'm able to make it out to the trails. This winter weather has been really hard to contend with! Some weekends are great and others are down right dangerous with all the frozen stuff out on the trail. It will happen though! I don't know about you, but after a long period of quarantine and general lockdown I am itching to get outdoors! I spent some time putting together a list of spots in the USA that I would love to get a chance to visit. I figured that would be the ultimate to-do list once things calmed down! Without any further waiting, let me share some of these awesome spots with you. Firstly, Half Dome Trail - Yosemite has to be on the top of anyone's list in terms of hiking. It's just unparalleled. This trail in particular is incredible and challenging since it's nearly 15 miles round trip and has around 4000 feet of elevation! It's not for the faint of heart for sure, but as an experienced hiker it doesn't phase me. I like challenges! Secondly, Mount Olympus trail out near Salt Lake City. Utah has some of the most beautiful landscape that I've ever seen and I can't wait to get out there to experience it. This trail in particular isn't as long, but has some elevation. The views are just something else altogther! And to keep this list short I am going to share one more place I would love to visit. That's Stewart Falls Trail, also in Utah. I am a sucker for waterfalls, so it's a no brainer that this one made the list! It takes you through a gorgeous forest, then the falls are your reward. It's a really nice, relaxing hike for sure. That's my list of must see hiking spots for this year! I like having a good mix of challenge, but also relaxing hiking to really connect with nature. Hiking is one of those things that i really feel helps me unwind after city life. What spots are you looking forward to going to this year? Let me know in the comments. |
